Honzo Zufu:
The Art of Herbal Mastery (Portulaca)
馬齒莧(ばしけん)
"Honzo Zufu," compiled by Japanese botanist Iwasaki Tsunemasa in 1828, is an extensive 96-volume manual of medicinal plants. Though the first four volumes are lost, the remaining volumes document over 2,057 species, based on real specimens and inspired by the "Compendium of Materia Medica." Iwasaki traveled widely to gather this valuable botanical knowledge.
